They even tried to make their videos free! Unfortunately, that model wasn't sustainable for them, but I've talked with them personally and I know they are trying to keep their costs down but enough to maintain everything. They've since taken the best parts of everything and put it all in one. Physeo was created by med students (that are STILL med students) who wanted to fill the gap because at the time only Pathoma existed. Their content was simple and clear (and far more reasonably priced). They reached out to me super early on and gave me an account and asked me to share. I've heard Pixorize is created by someone who left Sketchy because he/she felt they were doing it the wrong way. They've been much more excited about working to improve the AnKing deck and providing many resources to do so. UPDATE: Since writing this post ~2 years ago, I have finally gotten ahold of Sketchy (to the right person!) and they have been much better to work with. They've told me "they aren't working with students right now" or something to that effect. I've reached out to them to try and work with them and have been ghosted multiple times now. They took advantage of that and I think one day they will face the competition. They created an incredible thing that was a lot of help to students and eventually owned a corner on the market. The same is not the case for others, unfortunately.įrom what I understand Sketchy's creators were med students in California. I'd rather use that to help future generations. But ultimately I want to be a doctor and not manage an Anki business.

Is it tempting to keep growing and growing so I personally can make a lot of money? Sure. I personally have learned lately that I can accomplish SO many more cool things to help med students by having a little bit of income to pay a software engineer. Don't get me wrong, I felt like Sketchy was very useful, but these other companies seem much more interested in the actual wellbeing of students.
